Last week, the Resolve Forensics team had the privilege of attending the Ontario Forensic Investigators Association (OFIA) Conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
OFIA brings together investigators, forensic professionals, law enforcement personnel, and industry partners from across Canada to collaborate, share knowledge, discuss emerging technologies, and help advance the field of forensic investigation. It was an outstanding event filled with meaningful conversations about the future of forensic science, forensic sequencing, and investigative genetic genealogy.
We especially want to extend a sincere thank you to the OFIA leadership and conference organizers. Events like this require an enormous amount of work behind the scenes, and it showed throughout the entire week. The conference was exceptionally well organized, welcoming, collaborative, and brought together an incredible group of professionals all focused on helping solve cases and moving forensic science forward.
One thing that stood out clearly throughout the conference was the growing momentum around forensic genetic genealogy and advanced DNA sequencing in Canada. We had some fantastic conversations surrounding difficult cases, scientific challenges, and opportunities to continue improving outcomes for investigators and families.
At Resolve Forensics, our mission in Canada is simple: advance the science and lower the costs so more cases can be solved, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and privacy.
We are deeply committed to doing whatever we can to help support and strengthen this work across Canada in the years ahead, and we left Niagara Falls incredibly excited about the future.
We also have to thank everyone for embracing the Utah Mammoth with us for a few days and humoring our playoff excitement… even if the 2OT playoff loss still hurt a little at the time. Having several attendees come by the next day to offer some emotional support was a much needed pick-me-up!
Congratulations as well to Nick Gervais with Belleville Police Service for winning the Resolve Forensics booth raffle prize! We hope you enjoy some Utah-based High West Campfire whisky.
Most importantly, we just want to say thank you. Everyone we met was incredibly warm, welcoming, collaborative, and generous with their time. We’re truly grateful for the relationships that are being built and we’re already looking forward to coming back next year.
