Resolve Forensics is an accredited forensic DNA laboratory with over 25 years of highly-specialized forensic DNA and biomedical scientific understanding. Resolve’s advanced DNA testing program is unique in its DNA testing capabilities, technologies, and bioinformatics, purpose-built for use in forensic genealogy casework. Specializing in challenging, degraded, and minimal DNA samples, Resolve provides SNP DNA testing and Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) services to law enforcement, medical examiners, and investigative partners worldwide. Pioneers in the forensic genetic genealogy space, our science team was the first in the world to request recognition of, and obtain ISO/IEC 17025 forensic accreditation for, whole genome sequencing SNP-DNA. With a foundation in scientific rigor, validated methods, and ethical responsibility, Resolve Forensics delivers reliable, court-defensible results that help bring answers, accountability, and resolution to unresolved cases.

DANNY HELLWIG, MSFS
Chief Executive Officer
Danny Hellwig brings over 20 years of expertise in forensic DNA science to his role as Chief Executive Officer, where he leads with a focus on innovation and operational excellence. A recognized thought leader in forensic investigative genetic genealogy (FIGG), Danny spearheaded the accreditation of the first laboratory globally for whole genome sequencing of forensic SNPs and the second for the Verogen Kintelligence kit, solidifying his reputation for advancing the capabilities of forensic DNA analysis.

Throughout his career, Danny has directed the development and implementation of cutting-edge sequencing technologies, ensuring laboratories remain at the forefront of forensic science. His extensive experience spans strategic laboratory management, forensic casework, and collaboration with law enforcement and genealogical communities. Under his leadership, the laboratory continues to set new standards in solving complex cases and advancing the field of FIGG.

DEREK CUTLER
Forensic Laboratory Director
As our Forensic DNA Laboratory Director, Derek is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and scientific integrity in all casework. As Laboratory Director, Derek has overall responsibility for the technical, operational, and administrative leadership of the forensic DNA laboratory.

Derek’s role includes overseeing personnel, maintaining accreditation standards, managing workflow, and serving as the technical authority on DNA analysis procedures when needed. In addition, Derek expertly ensures our laboratory delivers reliable, accurate results and operates in accordance with legal, scientific, and ethical guidelines.
Derek’s leadership is key in collaboration with executive leadership on budgeting, resource planning, and long-term strategy as well as monitoring lab performance metrics, optimizing workflow efficiency, and turnaround times. Supporting our company’s drive for operational excellence, Derek also develops strategic initiatives to expand services, improve case throughput, and enhance lab capabilities.

WHITNEY ORR-HELLWIG
Chief Operating Officer
Whitney Orr-Hellwig is the General Manager at Resolve Forensics, specializing in client communications, office management, and operational organization. With over 15 years of experience in customer service, leadership, and management, Whitney ensures that the team operates efficiently and clients receive top-tier service.
Her career has spanned various leadership roles, beginning as a store manager at Trade Secret, where she developed skills in team management, operations, and customer service. She further honed her leadership abilities as an Event Ambassador at Top Golf and as a flight attendant with SkyWest Airlines, refining her customer service and compliance expertise.

At Morgan Stanley, Whitney transitioned into Retirement Services and Social Media, helping Financial Advisors stay compliant with retirement plans and social media policies. This role enabled her to build strong relationships and provide guidance on navigating regulatory standards to help advisors manage clients’ long-term financial goals.

ANDREA MCCARTHY, AIGG
Director of FIGG
As Director of Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG), Andrea is responsible for the design, implementation, and development of Resolve's FIGG Program including its policies, procedures, documentation, mentorship and compliance.
Andrea is a graduate of the FG4LE Advanced Internship program under Redgrave Research Forensic Services, is a member of the Public Entity IGG NTVIC committee, and actively works cases as a Team Leader / Senior Genetic Genealogist with the Cold Case Coalition. Andrea is a member of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Task Force and serves on the board of LoveWell Collective, a Tulsa non-profit that focuses on equipping local communities to engage in healthy conversations and service despite our differences.
She received her accreditation as an Accredited Investigative Genetic Genealogist with IGGAB in April 2025.
